The Florida North Atlantic

Arrived in Fort Clinch, just off Fernandina, where the armadillo rules.  Funny how in the last two days I have visited two forts with the names of friends, Taylor and Clinch: Don and Simon.
It was a travel day, and I broke the rules. I was on the interstate and the turnpike for most of the day, but the prospect of over 12 hours to get here was not appealing.
Hi of the day? These tall crane-like birds with red foreheads. I am sure that Sandra will have them identified soon.
Low,  a new smell for the road, landfill. To best experience this from the comfort of your Armchair.,  try a chicken, and store the grease in a can. Now, put it in a sunny corner of the house, and open it around the time I get back. Trust me, it works.
No wi-fi so this is a phone post.
PS Today’s leg of the trip is dedicated to my primary Patty. Awesome lady.

  1. It was either a sandhill crane ( who love Nebraska!) described as “Tall 45″gray heronlike bird, dark red patch on forehead” or a whooping crane, a “taller 55″ white heronlike bird with black facial mask ad dark red crown” ….did this bird have black wing tips? then it was the latter! I was just thinking how jealous I was that you saw anhinga….Sweet dreams, love…and easy does it with the weather manana.
